Here is a map of Barkley Sound. This GIF image has a forward Link using an HTTP header to one schemeless HTML metadata page, and two schemed pages: Dublin Core metadata and FGDC metadata (text/sgml).
The three metadata pages have reverse links to the GIF resource. A simpler example with two metadata links is shown below.
In resource discovery, the forward links have priority over the reverse links. This enables the creator of a resource (who can create forward links) to control the associated metadata and ensure it is current.
