Got sound card, need software

London Drug has Gallant 16-bit sound cards on sale for $35, so I got one. I
added it to the kernel and created the devices for it without a lot of trouble.
Configuring the card was more trouble; I had to boot MS/DOS to do it. Several
times, because I had to make several attempts before I had IRQ's that didn't
conflict.
I now have wavplay, which plays .wav files OK. To play .au files, I've tried
bplay and cp. Both of these programs produce sound, but also a lot of
distortion. I also have no control over the volume. Which program should
I be using to play .au files?
