Not necessarily: those PnP cards may have different IRQ and
I/O settings every time you boot up. E.g. I had Supra that
every time took some high IRQs above 10, like 12 - 16 or
something, don't remember exactly.
You may need isa-pnp-tools program which you can get from
your distribution FTP site or you can try Sunsite search engine
to locate it. (sunsite.unc.edu) I used it when installing a
PnP SoundBlaster for someone, worked very well. Also worked
for the old 14,400 Supra I mentioned above. However, if you have
a Winmodem, forget it. Some of those crappy "Win" things don't
even work under DOS.
I've also heard newer kernels have some kind of PnP
but haven't tried it.
