is pleased to announce the release of the IDL Student Version.
(The IDL Student Version is a functionality-limited version of IDL 5.0
(Interactive Data Language), Research Systems' flagship data analysis
and visualization software. If you would like to learn more about IDL,

The IDL Student Version is designed to complement IDL-teaching lab
environments and give students access to software specifically
designed for technical curriculums including physics, astronomy,
engineering, earth sciences, medical sciences and computer
science. Students no longer need to kludge together scientific
visualization solutions with math software and spreadsheets; the IDL
Student Version provides a complete software environment for all their
data analysis, plotting and image processing needs.
The IDL Student Version is available for Linux and Solaris x86,
Microsoft Windows (NT, '95 and 3.11), and Power Macintosh
platforms. Each copy of the IDL Student Version comes with Learning
IDL a book specifically written to accompany the IDL Student Version,
in addition to online access to all 3,000+ pages of IDL documentation.
The IDL Student Version will be available in time for Back-to-School
1997 for the introductory price of $79 (North America Only).
