IMHO I have to say that I prefer having the prefix.
Although I do filter much of my incoming mail, I like to read some messages
(such as from the BC-LINUX list) as soon as I get them. This means that
I currently have them going into the main inbox instead of procmail putting
them somewhere else where I will not notice them -- traffic on this list
is very low at times.
I have seen a number of lists which do add the prefix, and if done by hand
or by a "smart" automated system then we will not get the prefix listed
numerous times on the subject line.
As most of the subject lines are fairly short I do not see a problem with
the addition of a few characters at head of them.
If you have a smart system then you can have the system remove the prefix
before you see it as Richard suggested that he might do.
