FWIW, I have a 486/33 (was as low as a 386/25) and I do sometimes get
the wierdest problems with network hangs, and they've been lessening
as I increase the speed of the machine (386/25 -> 33 -> 486/33), so
perhaps there is something to their insistence on a particular speed.
Although, as you say - my Linux box handles the local 10Mbit ethernet,
so why on earth would it bog on a slower line? *sigh*
As it stands with the 486sx/33, I haven't noticed any real hangs, even
after playing a few hours of Team Fortress Quake. :)
