ADSL from BCTEL and static ips

Some people have noted how BCTel's ADSL doesn't give you a perm ip.
While this is true, it DOES give you a permanent hostname. My system
Is always username.bconnected.sympatico.ca no matter what my ip.

Mind you if the IP ever changes it takes awhile for the change to progress
Through NIC servers.

Highly recommended service, though if you have a problem it can be a REAL
Hassle to get to talk to someone who has a clue, and even then you have to
Walk them through it.

I made it all the way to tier 3 tech support, and they still
Wouldn't listen to my problems, insisting my system was working (according
to their diagnostics). They had a tech in my house, and he ran some ping
test, and they insisted my system worked as a result of that. Mind you when
I convinced them to try larger byte size they started maybe believing me.
Took 2 weeks to convince them it was the modem that was the problem and to
give me a new one. After which everything has been wonderful . That 2 weeks
was calling them every day, twice a day or more. Mind you I got a refund
for the downtime.
