Elsewhere on the above Javasoft site I found a list of Java
development environments for Linux. I need a development environment
for a course I'm taking this fall. I downloaded some free trial
offers. The environments require JDK 1.1.5. It's a 13 MB download
(and another 1.5 for the docs), and now I get this on my Red Hat 4.2
system:
[root@localhost i386]# rpm -Uvh jdk-1.1.5-8.i386.rpm
/usr/bin/javac conflicts with file from kaffe-0.8.3-6
/usr/bin/javadoc conflicts with file from kaffe-0.8.3-6
error: jdk-1.1.5-8.i386.rpm cannot be installed
[root@localhost i386]# rpm -q jdk
jdk-1.0.2.2-3
[root@localhost i386]# rpm -q rpm
rpm-2.5-0
What do I do? Upgrade kaffe? --force it? I don't even know if I
need it. jdk-docs 1.1.4 installed fine.
