Redhat support for ham software

Redhat, the largest distributor of Linux (free unix for the PC), has
hired an active ham to move ham radio software into the mainstream of
the Linux platform. Jeff Johnson, N3NPQ, has asked the ham radio
community to identify and test ham software for Linux. If you have
email, you can help decide what ham-oriented software will become
available on the Redhat distribution.

Jeff is compiling a list of the software that hams want included.
This can be public domain or commercial softare. This can include
software that already runs on Linux, or software that would need to be
ported to Linux.

Jeff is also compiling a list of people who are running Linux and are
willing to test some of the ham software. Please let him know what
packages you would like to test.

Here is how to contribute:

Send an email to:
jbj@redhat.com

Begin the subject line with Jeff's call:
N3NPQ - <meaningful subject here>

Please don't do a "reply" to this email. The reply will come to me,
which won't do any of us much good.

Note, if you want to see an example if what Linux can do, check out
the Internet Web Radio Receiver in last February's QST, or try it on
line at: nihac.info.nih.gov/listener/listener.html
