Re: Fixating CD-RW media results in SCSI errors on Yamaha CRW-4260

If you are using an IDE CD-RW, you must use SCSI host adapter
emulation. There is a README.ATAPI that comes with xcdroast that
provides some patches to the kernel for use with IDE CD-Rs. Kernels
2.0.34 and later don't need these patches.

I was running xcdroast using and ATAPI Yamaha CD-R with kernel 2.0.33
sans patches. Even though the program reported errors at the end of
fixating, the CDs seemed fine. I could mount them and read the data no
problem. 2.0.34 got rid of the errors, but no change in 'quality' was
noticed, since there really wasn't a problem before.

Unfortunatlely, xcdroast won't allow the copying of music CDs under SCSI
host adapter emulation. I think this must be a problem with cdrecord,
since xcdroast is just a GUI front end for cdrecord.
