I really appreciated Andrew Daviel's message re security..
I edited my /etc/exports to allow NO nfs mounts, and I mounted
my stale SCSI disks option NOSUID. I have disabled TELNET
RLOGIN and a host of others in my /etc/hosts/deny file. My
passwords are not that strong, and my ROOT password is an
English word, so SHADOW is vulnerable to CRACK which uses
a very large English dictionary. I do not have user accounts that
users can log in on, they are only for my benefit in reducing the
damage I can do from non-malicious typos. I have installed disk
quota to TRY to encourage me to be frugal with my 28 gigs disk space.
I have a CD-ROM burning service if anyone is interested. $2 each
and I supply the CD-R. You supply the CD-R raw image file
generated with mkisofs (man mkisofs) on .DAT tapes or you give
me the CD that you want copied... Msg me at <ynmiles@ibm.net>
if interested... I don't have transportation which means you drive to
me.
