I remember people used to buy their 16550A UARTs from computer stores
for $30 when they were $11 at Electro Sonic.

If this is the guy who helped design and implement TSS-11, MINIX, and
Amoeba, and is the author of Modern Operating Systems (Prentice Hall),
it's "Tanenbaum."

Man, this P133 with 64 MB of RAM goes like stink! I haven't even
touched virtual mem yet! Thank you thank you thank you for dropping
those memory prices.

I don't know why I bothered getting so much memory (my first hard
drive was 40 MB). 640 kB ought to be enough for anybody. Two digits
should be enough to hold the year, and no hard drive will ever have
more than 1024 cylinders. :)
