I switched a couple years ago, and am glad I did. My qwerty typing has
suffered (I have to look at the keyboard too much :), but on more
friendly systems I'm much more comfortable. I'm not sure that I'm much
faster, as I was already very fast on qwerty, but I find it much
smoother to type on. When I use a qwerty on occasion it feels like I'm
reaching all over for the keys, while on a dvorak my hands make far
fewer large motions.
The main problem is that it really confuses people when they try to use
my keyboard. On the additional plus side it's a bit more security by
obscurity -- if I leave myself logged in, people have a hard time doing
much with the terminal. :)
