referred to it as Ladner's Last Erection.
However, as reported by the Red Rag during Engineering week, there was
no truth to the rumour that two large concrete spheres were to be placed
at its base; and it only emits sound waves.
One of the main objections to its placement next to the Library was that
Ladner wanted it to chime every hour "to remind students of the passage
of time." Most of the time it's silent, though it does have four clock
faces. It plays its bells quite a bit during Convocation.
