Since you are considering a change in rooms, does
UBC still have pull at the Med School (i.e. Vancouver
General Hospital) for a room?

Going out to the End_of_the_Earth at UBC in a rush
for 7 p.m. is a bit inconvenient.

Something more central would be nice. I was going
to suggest the basement meeting hall in Wendy's at Cambie
around the corner from MultiMedia on Broadway, but
you want to keep it cheap
