That's not going to merge it with "/", though. I've got myself in a right
mess with "/" on SunOS (Linux one can always boot a rescue floppy) - it's
got to have a complete bootable system on it including a shell, mount,
libs for same etc. One can add other partitions and mount them on
things like /var/log, or mount as /usr2 and symlink stuff like logfiles,
/usr/src etc. back.
