Which subdirectories of / do you mount from elsewhere? Do you have a
separately mounted partition for each of these, or just one additional
partition with some symbolic links, or ???

If your hard drive crashes, perhaps you have a recent backup. If Earth
crashes, what then? We need off-site backup: Luna, L5, Mars, wherever.
