My Red Hat 5.1 system may well have a certain amount of cruft, as I've
been doing upgrades rather than installs since RH3. In any case, when I
did du -s /* and added up everything except /usr, /var, /opt, and /home,
I got 23,522KB.

If your hard drive crashes, perhaps you have a recent backup. If Earth
