If you ran the autoupdate script then didn't finish the upgrade because
the directories on the ftp site weren't found, it's possible that your
header files have been uninstalled in preparation to installing the new
header files for glibc. As your compiler can't find stdio.h, that's the
most likely explanation. Try using the stable rather than the frozen
path and see if you can complete the upgrade.
