You should come see my computer sometime. My Panasonic P70 has no
trouble doing 1600x1200x16@75Hz rock solid and crystal clear. It gives
me a lot more effective screen real estate, as many useful utility
windows are much smaller, but still perfectly readable.
And no, my eyes are no longer young. Here's the font I use for most
things, it's not exactly small:
XTerm*font: -*-courier-medium-r-*-*-*-180-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
The single biggest advantage I find is that I actually have to increase
the size of xdvi windows to fill the screen, and the resolution is so
fine I can read right off the screen far better than I have ever been
able to with any other monitor.
