Did you run the autoupdate.sh script first? If so and you upgraded from
CD appearantly there was a bug in the original. There's a fix at

I did an ftp upgrade of a machine last week and it worked mostly ok. I
needed to do some minor cleanups afterwords but the machine certainly
worked after the upgrade.
