Some of my friends (both computer literate and illiterate) have fallen for their
traps. They put on a warranty sticker and won't let you see the hardware at pickup
... then when you get home you will actually find data from the HD's previous owner
still intact, and when you finally say ... heck with the warranty ... and open the
case, the $200 video card that you paid turns out to be a $50 one, the RAM are the
wrong type, the CPU overclocked, the SB soundcard is actually a clone, and they
won't admit to it because you have voided the warranty .... trust me, it had
happened to my friends before, and from what I had seen in NGs, it had happened to
other people as well.
If you read the van.forsale newsgroup, you will notice that there are complaints on
ATIC every other week or so, and that everyone there will warn you away from them.
Buyers beware .....
