We had just concluded a meeting tonight and had agreed that some sort of Linux Users Manual
for Newbie is needed for post-installfest purpose ... I will be writing something up and
hopefully will have it at the website in a couple of days ... in the mean time, I believe that
there is a HOWTO that explains some of the DOS/Win95 terms that corresponds to Linux and some
basic administrations commands. Hope I have enough time to tinker up something a.s.a.p. ;-)
There are 3 books that I recommend ... they are all published by O'Reilly:
Running Linux (2ed.) [General topics on Linux and operations]
Linux in a nutshell [quick command guide for most commonly used programs]
Using GNU Software (or something similar) [introduction to GNU software eg. compilers etc.]
from experience, avoid the big QUE books cause they tend to go too deep in some areas and too
shallow at others.
Also, remember there's your HOWTO's , man-pages and if you can't find the docs for a program,
you might be able to find it in /usr/doc or /usr/local/doc as well.
