That's normal for small-ticket items in shops. You generally pay
$5 or so for a power cable even in the discount shops; these are
less than $1.50 from Lin Haw. That's exactly why I suggested the
build-your-own-cable thing.

If someone's willing to do this, and the quantities involved are
enough, it might be worth taking this route instead. I can arrange
to get cable, plugs and a crimper on behalf of the club should it
chose to go the other route.
