RPM, installing packages

I am new to Linux, and am trying to install KDE
(http://www.kde.org/). I downloaded the generic RPM source files, and am
using RedHat 5.0.

I tried using

rpm -i kdebase-1.0-1.src.rpm
rpm -i kdemultimedia-1.0-1.src.rpm
etc...

and then followed that with

rpm -bp kdebase-1.0-1.src.rpm

and recieved an error that some syntax (probably from the install
script) was invalid.

I checked, and all the files I downloaded returned the same error.
What should i do?
