Me to have the problem... Doin' a strace on ifconfig, shows that it seems to have
problem with
socket(PF_IPX, SOCK_DGRAM, [PF_UNSPEC]) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
socket(PF_AX25, SOCK_DGRAM, 0) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
socket(PF_APPLETALK, SOCK_DGRAM, 0) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
I do not know why... I have both IPX/AX25/APPLETALK made as modules, and
alias net-pf-3 off # no ax25 module available (yet)
alias net-pf-4 off # if you don't use the ipx module
alias net-pf-5 off # if you don't use the appletalk/DDP module
in /etc/conf.modules. I to is running the absolute latest Debian...
Loading the ipx/ax25/appletalk modules manually 'solves' the problem, ie,
it does not wait any longer...
