I bought the Fraunhofer Institute mp3 encoder. It cost
me $US199, a little over $300CDN when exchange is
factored in. It has this silly encrypt key that has to be
in the root directory of every LINUX account that you
wanna run their encrypt program on. I moved the key
into /etc/skel.dir so I don't have to keep copying the
silly file manually. I also have the www.8hz.com mp3
Linux encoder program, plus source code, which is
freeware, and aroused the ire of the Fraunhofer institute.
The 8hz version is faster than the Fraunhofer institute's
version but the quality is not as good (I can't hear the
difference myself-but I don't know what to listen for)
Fraunhofer also bundles with their mp3 encoder an mp3
decoder. According to their licence agreement, it can't
be unbundled - sorry folks, even though it requires no
encryption key...

Linux - it isn't just for breakfast anymore...
