I've currently got P6-200 boxes pushing between 1.5-2Tb a month, so unless
you've got people streaming video or something, you should be able to handle
it. ;) Linux boxes (most webservers, actually) are more limited by thier
ability to execute CGI... there's a lot of really slow CPU intensive cgis out
there that can really slow your machines down.
I would strongly recommend buying 2 single CPU machines over 1 dual CPU
machine from a cost/performance basis... at least while running Linux. SMP
still has a way to go before it gets close to 100% utilization of both CPUs
(2.1.x kernels help, but there's still a ways to go yet). Websites and
their loads are very easily distributable, so getting a pack of commodity
machines (cheap) is an attractive alternative to buying Big Hardware
(pricey) when you can produce the same end result, even if it does result in
slightly higher administrative effort.

In my experience, Solaris doesn't seem to run Apache as well as Netscape's
server, though I'm told by solaris admins that with substantial tweaking to
the kernel parms that can be brought up to an even level in performance.
