Hi Haarondel
I'd bet that one of their neighbours on the netork (WAVE?) was putting out
all sorts of bootp or dhcp requests and the log (stored on RAMDISK) got filled.
There are options to log to another machine, or turn off logging altogether.
I just got 0.6 up and running (can't look at my version 0.4 right now
because of this) and the log can be seen on various of the virtual
terminals on the console (ALT-F5> to <ALT-F12> as follows:
kern.* /dev/tty5
daemon.* /dev/tty6
auth,authpriv.* /dev/tty7
cron.* /dev/tty8
local0.* /dev/tty9
local1.* /dev/tty10
local2.* /dev/tty11
local3.* /dev/tty12
One note on 0.6 I discovered is that the internal IP addresses have been
changed by Stuart for a reason I have yet to get from him (he hasn't
answered the e-mail and isn't responding to phone yet today). As far as I
can tell, all the addresses should be in the class C 192.168.0.x and the
current network.txt file has them in 192.168.1.x instead.
I changed them in the network.txt file prior to making the bootable
diskette and this worked fine.
My suggestion to all is that you put the addresses back to what they should
be if you are replacing a previous version since things like your (likely
hard coded) linux server box at 192.168.0.1 won't work properly because of
the wrong netmask.
Note that the documentation seems to have been changed too - strange!
