last question on this tape and tar issue b4 I hit the sack
how much space does one need on the linux partition if they want to tgz a
large file, in this example a 2-3.5 gb folder on a win98 fat32 partition,
I ask because I just ran tar on my root dir (about 900mb, the drive is a
3.2gb unit and the scsi dat drive the files are being tar'ed to is a 4gb unit)
and I notice the tape drive is running all the time
so... how much scratch/temp space does a tar operation to tape need? as
much as the original file sizes? a lot smaller? half as much?
TIA folks
