I was getting _serious_ numbers of link beat failures with my SMC??? tulip
based ethernet card for rogers @home
So, this evening in a rit of fealous jage, I pulled the cable and plugged it
into my other DLink 530CT tulip based card (the combo card I use for my
internal coax network).
Reconfig the network, (gawd I love linux for this) ifconfig eth0 down ...
etc.
reconfig, add the routes manually, add the gateway.
Instantly, no more link beat failures. Way better performance. Less lag
too.
So I call Rogers. 20 minutes on hold on a 1888 line.
Toronto radio station for Muzak (so guess where their call center is)
They say "Call back in the morning, we're going to put you thru to SMC, and
they'll send you a replacement card"
What! MFG warranty? From a US company? I'll have to wait _days_, nay weeks
for a replacement.
