you should have seen the Exide vs APC demo at Comdex, apc didn't look so good....
plus exide has a linux client that for their bkup s/w (as does best power
while apc does not) that allows remote shutdown of all/any/some systems
on the same subnet as the ups when it has network interface.

you can find them at future shop too. also if you are a reseller Meridel carries the apc line.
