I wrote a C program that ran as a filter to do the checksumming, and
the rest was ksh, find, cpio, rsh (for the remote hosts), dd, date,
mt, and so forth. It ran under SunOS (one of the other hosts was SCO),
but I'm sure it would be doable on any Unix-like system.
