With the Cell Computing's Mini-PC,
http://www.cellcomputing.com/third/prodmindex.html it looks like having an
mp3 player in your car is closer to reality. (Yes I know about empeg). I
was just wondering how cd changers work under linux.
To make one, what I was thinking was:
o Use the Mighty Might with the 200Mhz processor and 32-64 megs of RAM.
o Hook up a small hard drive, enough to boot a small Linux distro into a
ramdisk. It would include mpg123, and a sound mixer.
o Use a CD changer with burned mp3 cd's.
o Plug a SB16 into the ISA slot.
o Use a numeric keypad for the control.
The only difficult things would be to get clean power, and handling
playlists.
