The latest version on the updates site has no published vulnerabilities
at this time, AFAIK. There do seem to be new ones found every few
months, though, and as the server runs as root I'd be a little
leary about it.

A better bet might be to get the Cyrus IMAP server and install it -
it runs under it's own user ID with a separate directory structure,
and is quite nice. It also uses it's own mail format so you can't
get at the mail easily with a shell client, which is not so nice, but
for pure IMAP it's quite good.
