It seems that my parallel port is no longer accessible with the 2.2.x
kernel. Grr.. dmesg gives me:

...

request_module[parport_lowlevel]: Root fs not mounted
lp: driver loaded but no devices found
...

I looked in Documentation/parport.txt and tried to follow its
recommendations with respect to editing /etc/conf.modules

I tried saying parport=auto when i selected the kernel image for lilo..

after i did insmod /lib/modules/misc/parport_pc.o, i do see the
/proc/parport/0/ stuff, but when i cat those four files the only one
that gives me anything is hardware:

[[root@kristie /proc/parport/0]# ll
total 0
dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Mar 30 21:03 ./
dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 0 Mar 30 21:03 ../
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Mar 30 21:03 autoprobe
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Mar 30 21:03 devices
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Mar 30 21:03 hardware
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Mar 30 21:03 irq
[[root@kristie /proc/parport/0]# cat hardware
base: 0x378
irq: none
dma: none
modes: SPP,PS2,EPP
[[root@kristie /proc/parport/0]#

What am i missing here? Has anyone else had printer problems after
upgrading to the 2.2.x kernel?

thanks,
mike
