In some recent messages about finding linux books, several people have
mentioned that they looked at chapters. This is a bit of a political
thing, but I think it's relevant, given the nature of linux.

I would side with all those that recommended Multimedia (on broadway just
east of cambie for those who don't know), and add my own recommendation of
the Granville Book Company for getting books. It seems a bit strange to
side with the home-grown, independent OS, then get books about it from
a place like Chapters. Multimedia and the Granville Book Co. have been
very supportive of the Vancouver computing community for some time, and
I think it would be a shame to lose these great resources to a very
impersonal store like chapters.

Sure, they'll order in anything you want, but so will Multimedia/Granville
Book Co/Other independent booksellers. And when you buy from the smaller
guys, it actually impacts upon someone's livelihood, rather than lining
the pockets of some already very wealthy people.

Not to mention the fact that you get 10% off as a vanlug member to at least
the granville book co, and probably several other like places =)

well, that's my 2p.
