Hello all,

I want to add 2 things here, the first is I am a professional truck
driver by trade but that doesn't mean I want to venture out and fight
for a parking spot on some street in Vancouver, but I have not had any
problems with parking when I want to visit Multimedia on Broadway. I
usually try to park across the street at the intersection just west of
Multimedia directly in front of a janitorial supplies store right on the
south west corner. The spot is just long enough for 2 cars to fit
comfortably with no need to parallel park (1 in fornt 1 behind easy). If
that spot is not available I then pull into the adjoining parking lot
and park in there as those spots are usually not being used and my time
is very brief at Multimedia that no one would be inconvenienced for long
if at all. Also I was told that some of the spots that are marked
reserved have been long unused due to the fact the businesses that
reserved them are no more in that area (or so I was told). My second
comment is that although I can buy or order books from Chapters I buy
the bulk (98%) of my Linux material from Multimedia since they have been
supporting Linux long before there probably was a VanLUG (we're talking
years here). I also believe that if I don't help support Multimedia by
giving them my business then one day they may decide that Linux is not
worth carrying and stop bringing in new products. I also bought a copy
of the "Artisit Guide to the Gimp" from Multimedia as well as copies of
Applixware and Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux. The latter although being
free for download which I have done but I wanted the whole package and
wanted to support more software being ported over to Linux. Without
Multimedia I doubt very much that these products would have been
available from other stores even the big chain stores which charge
bloated markups on specialty items. Just as a last comment, Multimedia
has some of the best prices around, the savings alone on a single
software title will more than pay for the gas and time/effort to travel
the little extra distance.

Take er easy, stay cool!

Derek

PS. No I do not recieve any special considerations from Multimedia for
boosting their business, I do it because they have always been friendly,
helpful and what I feel the best deal in town (although half price
computer book store does get my first perusal before going to Multimedia
for book titles).
