You can set up one linux router with three nics. One ADSL, one 10mbps and one
100mbps. Then you need two hubs, one 10 and one 100mbps.
I'm not sure where the dividing line between a switch and router is drawn or how
much buffering switches do. They might buffer whole frames, multiple frames or
just enough bits to read the address. They are probably ethernet frame based
and then would not read IP addresses. I'm not sure if they could be configured
to switch multiple MAC (Ethernet) addresses to one line or whether they switch
one address per line. If they buffer whole frames they might be able to do rate
conversion between 10 and 100mbps. This might depend on the particular switch
used.
