Yes, it was. I thought it might have been causing the problem so I
commented it out. I thought perhaps the ppa driver (which I don't use, so I
don't know why it was there) might have had something to do with it:
# alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
# pre-install pcmcia_core /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start
I did an insmod on the parport_pc and I heard the printer beep, but when I
tried to print from the command line, I got the same message:
[[rpavan@mike rpavan]$ lpr glycerine.tab
lpr: connect: Connection refused
jobs queued, but cannot start daemon.

It was before. I checked it and it still is.
