Hi, all.
The size and quality of our membership has opened up some great
opportunities for VanLUG recently. In order to keep these opportunities
coming, we must continue to expand our ranks.
Please invite your friends and colleagues with an interest in Linux and
UNIX to consider joining VanLUG. Remind them that it's a great way to
keep up to date concerning the Open Source movement and there's no
membership fee. You might also point out our membership demographics
(attached).
To join, one merely needs to fill out the on-line registration form at
http://www.linux.bc.ca/forms/index.html
(as required by the BC Societies Act) and join one of our mailing lists
(announcements only, digest, or full).
It's going to be a great year! Speakers for our fall meeting series
(regular and special) include Richard Stallman (joint with CICSR), Tim
O'Reilly, Jim Pick, and Gurusamy Sarathy. We're planning several joint
events with the IEEE Communications and Computer Societies. Caldera and
Oracle are among several firms supporting LinuxFest '99. And Ziff-Davis
is providing us with a full Linux pavilion at COMDEX Canada West/2000.
Thanks.
