I currently have both ADSL and @home. I am going to be getting rid of my
@home connection for the following reasons:

1) ADSL is faster (very noticeable)
2) ADSL does not share bandwidth with any other users on the network.
3) ADSL allows you to run servers.
4) ADSL is more stable. (Shaw has been down 12 times as where ADSL has been
down once in 4 months.
5) ADSL has more upgrade packages available up to 1 megabit upstream and 3
down, for $130.00 per month.
6) ADSL now costs the same as cable. ( for the basic package.)
7) ADSL has real technicians that are used to hooking up T1 and T3 lines
installing your connection.
8) Linux is far easer setting up using ADSL than Cable.

One draw back I have found using ADSL is that their technical service is
pretty much non existent if you are using the sympatico service. But you
have more choices to use other ISP's as your service provider.

If you need any more info let me know.

OK I'm sure this is a much asked question but I'm trying to decide
between Rogers and ADSL. Can anyone who has Rogers give me an
objective opinion on how good the service is.

I know that IP addresses are obtained via DHCP but how long is the
address retained for, (in particular will it change each time I
reboot?)

I have my own Domain Name registered and would like to use it, do any
companies or ISP's offer a reasonable Name Service support, bearing in
mind that with DHCP I may end up asking for an update fairly often.

Many thanks for your time

JJ
