ADSL and cable appear to be equally easy to set up. Plug in your ethernet,
configure your DHCP (if you use it, otherwise configure your ethernet
with static IP info), and away you go.
Of course, those using cable should note that the cable goes into the
cable modem provided and not the cable input of your TV tuner video card.
I'm sure that would explain the "far easier" bit. :)
