Personally, I would rather pop a CDROM into a quiet drive, start up
cdparanoia, then go do something else for a while, come back and start
up the mp3 encoding software. Given how long it takes to do the
encoding, a few minutes either way on the ripping is negligible to me.
I've always got more email or news to deal with while waiting for a CD
to be read.
