Hi everyone.
I've got a server running on my ADSL connection here, but have a big
problem. For a long time (I've been running it for over a year new), it
worked perfectly. Then, about a month or so ago I started to lose the
net connection sporadically. I found that the dhcp server was being
stupid and wasn't letting me renew my ip leases, so the linux box
(running rh6.0 btw) would sit there using the wrong ip, and not be able
to ping anything: the gateway (209.53.28.254), nor my other machine
running win98 attached to the same hub. I fixed that up and finally
decided to let it do it's thing with the ip, and it worked fine for a
couple weeks. But now, I keep randomly losing the ability to ping it,
or for it to ping out, for about 30 seconds. This happens every 10
minutes or so. I'm not sure whether it happens when I'm not connected
to it, as I can't tell. All I know is that every 10 or 15 minutes my
telnet connection to the server dies, and I have to wait about 30
seconds before I can reach the machine again.
Can anyone help?
David
