Say you got a server with a constant net connection and a modem to a POTS
line and you want to make connections to those ubiquitous digital cell
phones<->serial cord<->laptop/PDAs. What are the terminologies? Where are
the how-tos on such call making? Will existing call-back scripts work?
(work as in the server's modem makes a call to the cell's phone number,
the serial line takes the cell's signal and wakes up/trigger the laptop
PPP handshaking script--a transparent translation between analog signal
and digital signal provided by the phone company)
Do you need a real analog modem on the server's side? Or will a IP
connection suffice?
If this is over-complicated please explain :)
