lemme guess you have one of the Amati modems? and your ip usually is one of
the 209.53.x.x right?
I've commented on this before where the dhcp server will effectivly yank your
ip address away from you and eventually after a few minutes of no
connectivty will assign you a new one, is this what is happening?
Also I spoke with one of the first level guys at Advance Communications a
while back and he mentioned that they have been telling 2nd and 3rd tier for
months now that there has been a problem with ips in the 209.53.x.x scope
just like the above, OTOH, when I talked to 2nd level they basically said
first level techs are idiots, as a general rule I'd agree that first level
isn't clued in but, since I've been through this myself.....
