the converse is true, this is exactly the case where switches shine over the
use of a hub....

Basically if you have a 10 port 100baseT hub and all 10 people want to
transfer a 100mb file, they all end up sharing the 100mb/s fairly equally
between each other, OTOH, with a switch, they effectively get 100mb's each
since they are not sharing the bandwidth due to the way the switch works and
routes traffic. With that being said the switch users won't actually get
100mb's each, but they will get a much higher speed than the hub users will.
