Recently I decided it would be fun to learn PHP and MySQL with my
already-running Apache web server. Here are some links that I found
useful:

Your First Database

A more useful starting point for the above: on relational databases

PHP + MySql tutorial
http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/databases/tutorials/tutorial4.html

MySQL reference manual (see Section 7 for a SQL query reference)
http://www.mysql.com/documentation/mysql/commented/

PHP reference manual:

Sorry, I haven't gotten around to learning perl yet. I hear good things
about the ORA camel book, though, if your budget allows it.

The best piece of advice I can give you, really, is to take the examples
available to you and play with them. Think up something you might want
a Web-based database for -- something simple to start with -- and try
making it. It's not as hard as it looks at first glance!

I hope this is useful to you.
