Mail Dave michelson mailto:dmichelson@ieee.org and ask him if he has any
of the surplus 3COM cards left. He was selling them to Vanlug members
for $6 each (maximum limit of four cards per person) Be sure to ask him
for a card which connects to the Ethernet via an RJ45 plug.
Next best price is a D-Link NE2000 clone, which goes at London Drugs for
approximately $27.00, probably cheaper elsewhere. They use the stock
NE2000 driver.
If you get a tulip card, you will need a recent version of the file
/usr/src/linux/drivers/net/tulip.c and either compile the module or
compile a brand new kernel, whichever you prefer. I believe the
"tulip.c" file specifies where you can download upgrades...
